Safety Information
Your safety is our priority! Please remember the following while Serving Dinner:
• Wash your hands thoroughly before starting, after handling raw foods, and after breaks.
• Wear gloves when handling ready-to-eat foods and change them regularly.
• Wear closed-toe, non-slip shoes—no sandals or open-toed footwear.
• Use hairnets or hats to keep hair secured while working near food.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines: Keep hot foods hot, cold foods cold, and avoid cross-contamination by using separate utensils for different tasks.
• Report any illness or open wounds to a supervisor before your shift; do not handle food if you are unwell.
• Keep serving areas clean and tidy—wipe spills immediately, and keep pathways clear.
• Handle equipment and knives carefully. Only use kitchen tools you have been trained to use.
• Know where first aid kits and emergency exits are located.
• If you have any safety concerns or see something unsafe, let a supervisor know right away.
Cancellation Policy
To help us serve our community efficiently, please remember our 24-hour cancellation policy for all volunteer shifts:
• If you need to cancel a scheduled shift, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance.
• You can cancel by logging into your volunteer account, emailing, or calling our office.
• Last-minute cancellations make it challenging to fill your spot and can impact our ability to serve those in need.
• If you have an emergency or sudden illness, let us know as soon as possible—your health comes first.
